Welcome to the Department of Chemistry, IIUM. Located in the Physical Sciences Building of Kulliyyah of Science, we strive to offer our students excellent education and encourage them to learn and explore chemistry through collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

The Department offers a 4-year undergraduate course leading to Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Chemistry. Students will take chemistry core courses in the first three years of the programme and choose one concentration package from various fields offered. Students are also required to conduct a research project in the final year of the programme.

 
Currently, with 13 academic staff lead by Asst. Prof. Dr Mohammad Norazmi Ahmad, our Department mainly focuses on the following research areas:

  • Analytical & environmental chemistry
  • Polymer & Material chemistry

Entry Requirements

 

  1. A pass at the GCE level with credits in
    • Mathematics
    • Chemistry
    • Biology
    • Physics

    Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the University.

  2. Pass in the English Placement Test (EPT) conducted by IIUM or has evidence of IELTS or TOEFL qualification:

  3. Other admission requirement:
